Women Gather at McLane to Hear About Economic Status of
Women in New Hampshire
The law firm of McLane,
Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association
is proud to announce its latest involvement in the Southern
New Hampshire Women's Business Network, ("SNHWBN").
On Thursday, July 19th, McLane served as host for "Are
We There Yet?" a candid discussion about the Economic
Status of Women in New Hampshire.
Business woman Gail Garceau, Dr. Annabel C. Beerel, Professor
of Social Ethics from Southern New Hampshire University,
Linda Johnson of the McLane Law Firm and Lisa M. Thorne,
Director of State Government Affairs from Verizon.Katie
Merrow, Executive Director of the Women's Policy Institute
reported the results from various surveys including findings
that the income disparity between men and women persists
with full-time working women earning only 71% of men's median
earning; that there is a marriage earnings premium for men
but not for women in the state; and that the higher the
education level attained by men and women, the greater the
wage disparity that exists.
On a more positive note, Merrow's studies showed women's
earnings in New Hampshire are among the highest in the nation
and New Hampshire ranks high on policies that support women's
economic well-being.
"We have a long way to go, but it's encouraging to
be part of a business community that is leading the way
in advancement for women in business," said McLane
attorney Linda Johnson, host of the event. Linda is very
active in the SNHWBN, now serving her second term on the
organization's Board.
